DENTURE STABILIZATION

DENTURE STABILIZATION

Many dental patients have opted for having dentures installed when missing several teeth, simply because dentures are a relatively inexpensive type of treatment which can be managed by most budgets. If your insurance carrier has a fairly tight policy about paying for dental procedures, you may be obliged to go the less expensive route. There's no question that dental implants are the best way to replace a missing tooth, but when you have to replace several of them, paying for implants can quickly become super expensive.
The biggest complaint about dentures in the past was that they move around in your mouth and are not as stable as they could be. Now that objection can be handled through denture stabilization. This process involves emplacing implants in the patient's mouth in the same way that dental implants might be used to install new crowns there. When dentures are anchored to implants, they don't move around at all, and they become as solid as the patient's original teeth. This is a permanent solution for the patient, and the implants cannot be removed, unless there is a serious need to do so.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: WHAT EXACTLY IS DENTURE STABILIZATION?

A: Denture stabilization is a process which involves installing implants in the patient's mouth for the purpose of anchoring dentures to them, and causing the dentures to become much more stable, with no slippage or movement.

Q: WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF DENTURE STABILIZATION?

A: Patients can enjoy better biting and chewing with denture stabilization. Most patients will also be able to speak more clearly, and their dentures will be easier to clean and maintain. There will generally be less gum irritation and less jawbone irritation, which in turn promotes better oral health.

Q: HOW DO IMPLANTS STABILIZE MY DENTURES?

A: Implants act as tooth roots, and the jawbone will actually grow around the implant and encompass it. Then your dentist can attach your dentures to the implant, either by using a bar-retained system or a ball-retained system.

Q: WHY SHOULD I EVEN BOTHER WITH DENTURES AND STABILIZATION?

A: Apart from being able to chew more effectively and speak more clearly, there are health reasons why you should have stable dentures in place. Facial structure can begin to degrade if missing teeth are not replaced, and you can look much older than you really are. A number of dental hygiene issues might also crop up if you don't have missing teeth replaced in an effective way.
